Aurum’s name derives from the Latin word for gold. The ultimate symbol of luxury, wealth and victory to most, but in alchemy, gold held a greater significance. To alchemists, it stood for purity, perfection and spiritual enlightenment, and for these reasons they sought to transform other metals into gold.
